These exciting, informative and inspiring panels will include various presenters drawn from our international list of Featured Faerie Artists and Authors. Join us for some "faerie stimulating" presentations and conversations!

Nature As Spirit — Shamanism, Faerie Visions, and the Animate World
We'll explore traditions of faeries and nature spirits from around the world, and the vitality and commonality of faerie beliefs in ancient and modern global cultures.

Faerie in Literature and Art
A look at the presence of Faerie and faeries in art, ranging from early literary works (Chaucer, The Gawain Poet, Shakespeare, the literary fairy tales of Italy and France, Victorian fairy art, etc.) to contemporary artists working within this tradition today.

Hearth and Heart—The Lore of Hospitality
In many ancient tales, the hearth is presented as the most important place in the house, the locus of magic and wonder, the place where relationships with Faeries are forged (and sometimes broken). We'll share the lore of the hearth and discuss ways we can make our own homes welcoming to our Good Neighbors.

Faerie Goes Downtown—The Urbanization of the Otherworld
Faeries are not just for forests and fields anymore: a revealing look at the presence of faeries in the modern urban landscape.

Faerie Goes Downtown panel with Holly Black, J Corsentino, Delia Sherman and Wendy Froud

Adapting the Otherworld—Using faerie lore, myths, and fairy tales in children's literature
An exploration and discussion about how ancient faerie myth and folklore inspire and inform modern fiction.

The Song of Enchantment —Faerie & Magic in Traditional to neo-Medieval Music
Join the members of celebrated German bands Estampie and Qntal, and Celtic scholar and singer Caitlin Matthews, NPR's Sound and Spirit host Ellen Kushner and Emilio Miller-Lopez of Woodland in discussion about the presence of Faerie and wonder in the roots of traditional and modern music. Moderated by Stephen Winick, a Library of Congress folklorist and Dirty Linen columnist.

Tarot, Divination, Hallows, and Talismans
Faerie has always been a world that exists in the past, present and future simultaneously. As such, its denizens have traditionally been consulted for clues about our pasts and our futures. Various divinatory traditions will be discussed, as will the hallowed acts of making and using talismans, charms and divinatory devices to help bring Otherworldly assistance and protection.
